LibQUAL+ is a suite of services that can be used to assess and improve library services. The survey, which takes 10-15 minutes to complete, includes 27 questions on users expectations for specific resources, services, and environment; demographic questions, questions about respondents' use of Steen Library, and a box for comments.

General Databases

Academic Search Complete (Ebsco) is a multidisciplinary index giving access to articles in over 8000 journals with many available in full text.

Expanded Academic ASAP (Gale Cengage Learning) is a general database with indexing for journal, magazine and newspaper articles, with many of the articles available full text.

Google Scholar provides a search of scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources, including theses, books, abstracts and articles.

Wilson Select Plus (FirstSearch) is a general database that contains full text articles from popular and scholarly journals and magazines.

 

Subject Databases

Academic OneFile (Gale Cengage Learning) provides access to newspapers as well as refereed, scholarly journal articles from 1980 to the present.

Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities in Business and Education The Directory assists you in selecting those journals that are most likely to publish your manuscript. The index in each Directory helps you match the characteristics of your manuscript to the topic areas the journal emphasizes, the type of review process, acceptance rate and number of internal and external reviewers.

Communications & Mass Media Collection provides current and accurate articles on all aspects of the communication field.

Communication & Mass Media Complete (Ebsco) covers key journals, recent encyclopedias, and handbooks in the area of communications studies and mass media.

General Businessfile ASAP (Gale Cengage Learning) lists articles in business journals and magazines with many available full text.

Newsbank (Access World News) is a full-text newspaper resource consisting of more than 1,800 regional, national, and international newspapers and newswire sources.

AMS Seal of Approval
The American Meteorology Society seal of approval for radio and television weather broadcasts has been around since 1957. Information about the seal and how a station can get the seal is available at their web site.

Offers News, History, Awards, and Job openings as well as Television Quarterly.

Paley Center for Media (formerly Museum of Television and Radio)
A unique site that archives radio and television broadcasts. Interviews with many well-known people are available on the Internet. The museums mission is to "have a responsibility to the public to collect and make available the finest collection of programs and promote a greater appreciation of its artistic value, social impact, and historic importance."

Radio and Television News Directors Association
Founded as a grassroots organization in 1946, its purpose was to set standards of news gathering and reporting. Their code of ethics is posted at their site.

The Society of Broadcast Engineers, formed in 1963, is a nonprofit organization serving the interests of Broadcast Engineers.
