Academic Search Complete (Ebsco) is a multidisciplinary index giving access to articles in over 8000 journals with many available in full text.

Expanded Academic ASAP (Gale Cengage Learning) is a general database with indexing for journal, magazine and newspaper articles, with many of the articles available full text.

Wilson Select Plus (FirstSearch) is a general database that contains full text articles from popular and scholarly journals and magazines.

 

Subject Indexes

Arts and Humanities Search (First Search) covers articles in literature, language, art and the performing arts.

CultureGrams Online (ProQuest) is a cultural reference product for over 200 world countries that includes country-specific reports, as well as outline maps, color flag images, photo gallery, and much more.

Home Improvement Collection more than 180 home-improvement titles covering architectural techniques, tool and material selection, zoning requirements and more.

ADAM,
"The Art, Design, Architecture & Media Information Gateway, is a searchable catalogue of 2546 Internet resources that have been carefully selected and catalogued by professional librarians for the benefit of the UK Higher Education community."

ASID
"The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is the oldest and largest professional organization for interior designers . . ." Interior design students can join. Articles about home design, work design, and the interior design industry are accessible from ASID's site. It features " . . .specialized information, news bulletins, membership information, reports, publications, product options/availability and more." Some resources are limited to members only.

Brief Biographies of American Architects
Who Died Between 1897 and 1947. A searchable index of biographical information on American architects provided by the Society of Architectural Historians. The material was "Transcribed from the American Art Annual by Earle G. Shettleworth, Jr., Director, Maine Historic Preservation Commission."

The Center for Universal Design.
Resources of The Center for Universal Design include a definition and principles of universal design, information on adaptive environments, and federal laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines pertaining to the ADA and accessibility .

The Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER).
"FIDER promotes excellence in interior design education through research and the accreditation of academic programs which prepare interior designers to create interior environments for improving the quality of human experience."

IDEC
"The Interior Design Educators Council, Inc. (IDEC) was founded in 1963 and is dedicated to the advancement of education and research in interior design." Most of the site content is limited to members only.

ISDESIGNET
Features a product and company directory, a question and answer column called "The Green Exchange" on environmentally friendly design, conference news, "Breakfast with Beverly" (a video program of interviews with prominent interior designers), and links to ISmagazine, and desigNEWS.

Lighting Research Center (LRC)
Reports on commercial and residential lighting, lighting research, and educational programs. Under Residential Lighting users can click on photos of lamps and light fixtures in a kitchen or living room and obtain detailed information on the price and style. Located at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA)
Has an FAQ, articles and information on remodeling, and photos of award-winning designs. The NKBA Kitchen & Bathroom Planning Guidelines are available under Consumer Information. Trade and Members information is also provided.

Victorian Architecture
This site, brought to you by George P. Landow (Professor of English at Brown University), is a comprehensive look into the contrasting styles and designs of the Victorian Age, as well as biographies on twelve influential designers of that era. Includes bibliographies to assist in finding more information.
