Subjects: Government Documents

What I Do: I manage the Collection Development process for print and electronic materials and the Government Documents collections.   I coordinate the book approval plan and discretionary selections in collaboration with the subject librarians in RIS.  I provide reference assistance for the federal and state documents collections.

I have worked in academic and public libraries in Missouri, Arizona, and Texas.  My career at SFASU Steen Library began in 1989, when I was hired as the Government Documents librarian in the Reference Department.  

Committee and Association memberships have included: Faculty Senate, 2004-2007,  Senate Secretary 2005-2007; SFA  Faculty Development Leave committee 1999-2001;  Library Academic Advisory Council, 1998-2001, 2002-2007;  Texas Library Association, 1990-; Gov Docs Round Table (GDRT),1990-; GDRT Secretary 1992-93;  TLA GODORT electronic resources committee 1999-2000; Nacogdoches Public Library lay representative for Houston Area Library System (HALS) 1989-1992; HALS Advisory Council 1999-2002; Council secretary 2000-2002. 

Publications and Presentations:  Co-authored article with Sue Muckleroy and Marthea Turnage entitled: “Access to Federal Documents: An Information Age Approach,” TEXAS LIBRARY JOURNAL (1993).  Co-presented with Lani Draper, Tina Oswald and Marthea Turnage “Preparing your High School Students for College” at TLA District VIII Fall Conference, October 2006;  Co-presented with Marthea Turnage  “Jobs and Resumes on the World Wide Web”, SFASU Communication Conference, 1997.
