Lawyer, Confederate Army officer, and State legislator of Austin, Texas. Blotter copies of legal correspondence to individuals, sheriffs, county clerks, and judges; and personal correspondence to friends and family. One volume contains petitions, deeds and briefs used in courts, including the Supreme Court of Texas. Material on conditions in Texas before, during, and after the Civil War, material on the Texas Rangers, and the Cortina War (1859). Partners of Bowers were J. J. Dennis and Alexander Stuart Walker.

SHELBY COUNTY, TEXAS, COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION (PATRONS OF HUSBANDRY). CASHBOOK, 1890- 1891. 1 VOL. (B-12)
The Shelby County Cooperative Association is thought to have been the only grocery store in Timpson, Texas, in the 1890s. The store was run by George Newton Weaver, a merchant, Civil War soldier, preacher, dentist, doctor, and surveyor. Includes a brief journal recording trips taken (1895-1900), inspirational thoughts, and several pages of a diary, which announces the birth of Edward Boone Brackett (1905) and ends about 1912.
