How do I find a journal when it is not full text in the database I searched?

With your citation in hand, including journal title, date, volume, page numbers, article title, and author, follow the instructions below:

  1. Use the Search Box on the library homepage.
  2. Enter the journal title (not the article title) and click the button that says Journals.
  3. On the list that is retrieved, find the exact journal title you need. The list is in alphabetical order.
  4. Below the journal title, review the list of databases.
  5. Compare the date you need with the dates available listed with each database/publisher.
  6. Choose the database or publisher that includes the date you need.
  7. Follow the link to the appropriate database, then, select the year or volume needed. Next look for the article title or page numbers you need.
  8. If there is not an electronic match for your journal title and date:
    1. Look for a link that says “Stephen F. Austin State University's Print Holdings.”
    2. Follow this link into the catalog and look at the dates of our holdings.
    3. If we have the year you need, note the call number and retrieve the journal.  (Current issues are in the Reserve Room on the 1st floor, older volumes are on the 3rd or 4th floor depending on the first letter of the call number:   A-N on 4th; P-Z on 3rd
  9. If we don’t have the article you need, you can submit a request using Interlibrary LoanThis may not be a viable option during summer school because it often takes a week to obtain material through this service.
